Hey! OK, here's my solution to the low-profile roof rack issue I posted in the fjcruiserowners.com forums a few weeks ago. My problem is this: I'm using the FJ for work (I do electrical and security work) and I needed to make sure that I fit into small parkades on some sites I visit. Here's the solution: The ARB Fit kit (Part No. 3720100) and aluminum crossbars, 1x2" rectangular tubing, .090 thickness... Solution seems to work really well for me! AND, the FJ now tops out at a wonderful 6'3" empty.
 
Couple of hiccups... the bar length is not the same for all positions... the front bar is 46" long, center bar is 45" long, and rear bar is 44" long. I had them all cut at 45" long. (OOPS!! Whatever happened to "measure twice, cut once"?) Otherwise I'm very happy with the turnout. Approx cost: $260.00 cdn (plus the government's share).
